He reports someone had turned this well and the Cook #2 on to pump continuously and dike is full of oil with about 1 bbl running down over the dike. Crew feels there is probably 5-8 bbl oil inside the dike and about the same amount of brine. The dike had been built up after last oil spill. John says they have had 18 separate incidents in the last 2 years on the wells surrounding this lease. Today I found crew out with vac truck sucking oil out of the dike area and pads placed on the area downhill from the dike where it ran over. Plans are to get what they can up today, then tomorrow flood the inside of the dike with fresh water to float the oil up. They said they will probably re-do the tank pad, putting new gravel in. Sheriff was called and the incident reported. No citation at this time. |

Say that valve was broke in the past and small plastic tank leaked - soaked into the pea gravel inside the dike and continues to keep coming out - have tried in the past to clean it. This day are removing tank to get at trapped oil under it, then flushing rock to bring oil to the surface. Spent several hours and oil still coming to surface. Suctioned off oil and will just have to continue to clean until all oil out, then can put tank back inside dike. Working on erosion of road this day and looking much better, good IDs now up. |
