Well has 4 1/2 casing, dont know if ever produced. Talked to the Forest and they knew well was there - they are putting ground in next lease sale and dont need it plugged. Gale DePuy wanted well but Forest Service says they cant. Needs changed in computer. |
| 1126353485 | 2016-04-12 | Orphan | No Violations | *THIS WELL PLOTS 1030 SE OF THE COORDINATES PROVIDED IN RBDMS.* Performed an inspection of this well in response to a request from DOGRM Permitting Section. Upon inspection, it was observed that the well is idle and is shut-in. The well consists of 8.625 surface casing and 4.5 production casing with a 4-2 swedge, 2 ball valve, and associated 2 steel flow lines. No pollution or contamination was observed at the well. There are several sub-mature trees that have grown up very near the well. The lease road is overgrown with trees and underbrush. The well is on Wayne National Forest surface. There is a 100 bbl production tank and mechanical separator located near the road. The well is orphan, but is not posing any hazard at this time. I will prepare a current Orphan Well Program referral for the well. |

I found a 100 barrel tank and upright separator where access begins off Shay Ridge Road. The tank had no identification and no dike. Hatch was open. The well is located 500 west of the tank and has a 2 steel line running all the way up to the tank. It is not tied in. The well consists of 8.625 OD surface casing and 4.5 diameter production casing on a clamp. The well has a 4 x 2 swag with a ball valve on top that is closed. There was an occasional faint odor of gas while checking the well. This well was drilled in 1981 by Shield Drilling and never produced. It was perforated and possibly fracked in the Ohio Shale @ 3700. Because there is no current lease on this Wayne National Forest property, no other operator can take over the well and WNF would like it plugged. Pictures taken, SEM is 51. |
