1192810926 2007-10-18 Orphan No Violations Inspection this day due to review of old case files on idle/orphan. Found well casing - 8 - sticking above ground about 1.5. Hole filled with water up to ground level and bubbling considerable gas. Very overgrown, well probably 250-300 off the highway. Reportedly, this was an old well, located in a slip and a plugging rig had been on location and then pulled off, when found they could not get down it due to the slip. Forest Service would like to have it plugged - may match funds? Well located about 1.2 miles south of Grandview on St. Rt. #7, ribbons put on trees and guardrail on other side of the road. Culvert across the road ditch about 75 north of well and this could be used - much brush will have to be cleared for a short distance. Also a telephone cable on poles between the highway and well - well about 20 beyond line and poles. Small 1 gasline running thru the woods near well that will have to worked around. Much 2 and 7 steel pipe scattered on the ground in the area - will need to be reclaimed also. Hard to find any sign of well location or road at this time. My best guess would be this was a Maxton oil well, drilled to about 1150-1200.
1389649654 2014-01-10 Orphan No Violations My inspection this day due to request for an update to the orphan file. The well consists of 7 OD casing (not 8)with a collar, standing 1.5 above ground level. The well has fluid to within 6 of the top and is bubbling gas at a good rate - no gas registered with tester and very little to no odor. The casing appears to be in a slip and when previously worked on, the contractor could not get down the casing more than a few feet. Access is northeast of the well, off St. Rt. 7 where the culvert is placed. There are large trees and abundant briars and brush that will have to be cleared to get to the well. Also found was a 1-1.5 black plastic gas line paralleling the highway and overhead telephone or electric lines on the same side of the road. The well lays @ 30 northwest of the lines and they will have to be crossed under to get to the well. There are rods, many pieces of 2 steel tubing and 1 piece of 4 casing scattered around the location that should be removed. While inspecting this well I also found another well 500 south at N 39.49027, W-81.10016 with a wellhead, 2 tubing and 1 tubing on what is believed to be a gas escape packer. I am awaiting a permit number from Columbus. The 3rd well shown on the map between the river and the highway was not found. SEM is 153, pictures taken, file updated.
