Well appears equipped for production. Well tag not present. Department observed an area with a black residue along edges and no vegetation in front of the brine tank. When approaching brine tank from access road, area was immediately in front of tank and approximately 20 feet long by 12 feet wide. Affected area was directly under and spread out from the valve on the bottom of the brine tank. Department contacted Operator listed in eFACTS to notify Operator of what appears to be a release. Operator Rep Fred Gezich stated that they no longer owned well site; it was aquired by landowner in 1988. According to Department records, site was never transferred.
