No waterways believed to be affected. WQS received/reviewed report 6/4/12. During today’s inspection, it appears operator visibly contained and removed oil contaminated soils and placed in lined covered roll off boxes, 5 filled boxes located onsite. Well has been disconnected from production. It appears that cracked flanges in the brine tank lead to the release. Material released was exclusively oil, as brine had been pumped from tank several days earlier. Does not appear that oil migrated off well site. Operator has conducted several excavation attempts based on visual observation. Spoke with Steve Smith via telephone while on site, whom stated that third party contractor has be hired for remediation plan--operator plans to follow ACT 2 standards for cleanup. Soil sample results will be provided to dept for review. Site will be stablized, as no backfilling will occuring until clean up stnds are met.
2104595 Primary Facility 2012-10-02 Follow-up Inspection Outstanding Violations - No Viols Req'd During today’s inspection, it appears operator visibly removed oil contaminated soils. Fill roll off Operator has conducted several excavation attempts based on visual observation of impacted soils, does not appear that oil migrated off well site. Spoke with Steve Smith, whom stated that third party contractor was hired for remediation plan--operator is currently work with the department to fulfill ACT 2 standards for cleanup. Soil sampling results will be provided once analyzed, until then site will be stabilized as necessary to prevent any accelerated erosion or sedimentation issues. Operator will not backfill excavated areas until analysis has been reviewed by the department (ACT 2) to confirm all contaminated soils have been removed according to standards.Hence well site is not yet restored, previously issued violations are outstanding but operator is actively cooperating with the department to meet ACT 2 Standards. A follow up inspection will be conducted to ensure permanent stabilization/restoration is achieved.
