After following the material back to its source the Department discovered an open top tank, which contained what appeared to be Bentonite and cement returns. That tank appeared to have a hole in the bottom resulting in the discharge of the substance to the ground. The tank also had less than 2 feet of freeboard. The leaking tank did not appear in the violations written on 8/21/2012. The Department immediately called the Operator to report the findings. The Operator immediately started pumping down the leaking tank. The associated violation are separate from and in addition to those written on 8/21/2012. |
