Precision rig #569 on location, Savage South 3H well drilled to TD (13913') and rig is currently running casing in the hole. Steady rain was falling. Overall, containment was in good condition and functioning properly; however, on the east edge of the sitewide containment, I noted 3 locations where rainwater was overtopping the berm in a steady stream. Ty said he had just had a vac truck working in this area, and another was due shortly. I strongly recommended to Ty that he set up a trash pump or other full-time system to keep this area clear of rainwater. A trash pump was already nearby, and Ty had a tank in the vicinity as well to pump to. Ty was setting up the trash pump when I departed. Based on the concentration of water on the eastern side of the containment, it seems that the pad elevation tapers off in this area, creating a low spot with a high potential for a release; I strongly recommend that Chief either keep all of their primary containment above th |
